Umoja – everyday people with audacious dreams

Umoja reminds me of the warm breeze of the Kenyan sun, the endless rolling of the green hills of the Masaai Mara, the distinct smell of corn roasted on open fires, and the biggest night sky illuminated by millions of stars. I see the children with their wide smiles and bright eyes, the women in their abundantly colorful dresses, and the never-ending stream of cows, donkeys, goats and sheep. I see and feel the beauty of the land and its people. Most of all, I remember the stories. Stories of pain and hope, of struggle and victory, stories of life. The life of everyday people with sometimes audacious dreams, a life I can relate to, dreams I can get lost in, and a hope I wish to share with you.
